Robert Trujillo, bassist with Metallica, bought the bass "for the family",
however, the Bass will stay in his posession until the family can buy it back.
Part of the deal also was that the bass would go to a museum, as Jaco wished.
Trujillo has played the bass on stage with Metallica which triggered controversy.
At this point, RT is the sole owner of Jaco's fretless bass.
MAY 22, 2010: R.I.P LARRY WARRILOW
Larry was Jaco's orchestrator and right hand man and a dear man.
Jaco Pastorius' "Continuum" arranged for 8 saxophones, soprano to bass,
by Larry Warrilow. This arrangement was originally written for Jaco's
funeral, using trumpets, trombones, and saxophones.
JANUARY 31, 2010: JACO BASS METHOD BOOK
Pioneering Publication Gives a Glimpse into Jaco's Genius BY RAY PETERSON.
"This is where Ray Peterson’s utterly incredible new book comes in.
The Jaco Pastorius Bass Method is essentially what the bass world got cheated
out of, but has been looking for forever: a chance to study bass with Jaco."
"What is most striking though, are the last 4 or 5 pages. Ray Peterson
establishes a sort of “call to arms” against the legacy of Jaco Pastorius
as a lunatic who happened to be incredibly talented with a bass in his hands.
He recalls about a million ways in which Jaco was someone you would loved to
have hung out with, as opposed to the Milkowski school of tragedy. The last
pages of the book are actual scans of paged from Jaco’s practice book,
where there are a plethora of ideas to practice that just don’t seem
like the kinds of thing that I would just come up with, that’s for sure."
This is a petition to the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee for recommendation to
the Postmaster General that Jaco Pastorius be honored with a commemorative postage
stamp to be issued by the U.S. Postal Service. Pastorius is known as The World's
Greatest Bass Player for his innovative techniques and challenging compositions.
